Aurélie Gravelat carries out forms of research in which, through a choreography of subtle gestures, marks are deployed of an attention given to some minute movements of life.
Drawing is here used as an initial gesture of inscription (or indeed re-inscription) of the real, like the photography, video and writing which go hand in hand with this meticulous work of releasing/revealing, with its many spatial(ising) resonances.

Her current research, originating in her collecting of slate, develops steadily, not unlike episodes of wandering round a mineral subject, which more broadly attempt to translate one or two things involved in our way of inhabiting the world, the land, the landscape.

She teaches at the Brussels Royal Academy of Fine Arts (ArBA-EsA).
